Managing Money
In today’s discussion, we explore an essential aspect of financial success: managing money with intentionality and wisdom. Why should we take the time to learn money management? Because money is woven into our daily lives—it shapes how we live and pursue our goals. Learning how to handle, budget, and steward finances effectively is foundational to reaching those goals.
Let’s turn to a guiding scripture, Luke 14:28-30, where Jesus says, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?” Jesus is teaching about the importance of budgeting and planning. Just as in the parable, starting without a financial plan often leads to regret. Many people have seen their earnings vanish without knowing how or why—often due to a lack of intentional planning. Managing money rather than letting it manage you is key to financial freedom.
Budgeting is the practical tool that helps you achieve this. A solid budget lets you consider the future, helping you plan for expenses, set aside savings, and pursue your financial goals with clarity. Rather than impulsive spending, budgeting encourages disciplined foresight, making it easier to enjoy your resources responsibly.
Think of budgeting as good stewardship—a way of honoring the resources God has entrusted to you. The Bible emphasizes the value of wise planning; from the parable of the talents to Proverbs, God calls us to manage our gifts well. Beyond money, stewardship also applies to our time, relationships, and talents.
