Pressing On Towards Your High Calling
Philippians 3:13 (NIV), “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” The Apostle Paul delivers a powerful message that encourages us to let go of our past and move forward with determination. This scripture serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that our past does not define our future.
As human beings, we often allow our past experiences to shape our present actions. We judge, we fear, and we hesitate, all based on the shadows of yesterday. Our history and past encounters influence the way we navigate our relationships, our choices, and even our emotions. But today, I want to share with you the wisdom that Paul imparts in his message—wisdom that can transform your life.
Paul's message is simple yet profound: Forget the past and press on toward your goals. Regardless of whether your past is filled with triumphs or setbacks, heed this advice. If you've tasted success, let go of past glories and aim higher. If failure has been your companion, release those burdens and set your sights on new horizons. In matters of the heart, if you've been hurt before, choose to love again without reservation.
What I'm suggesting is this: wipe the slate clean and proceed as though the past never happened. Love as if you've never been wounded. Work diligently as if you've never succeeded. Strive as if you've never faltered. Leave behind the past and press on toward your aspirations. It's those who persevere, those who disregard their past and continue moving forward, who achieve great things. They are the ones who break barriers and limitations to reach new heights.
In every aspect of your life, there is a higher calling awaiting you. Whether it's in your business, your relationships, your career, or your studies, there's a greater purpose. Let go of past failures and successes alike. Keep pressing on. Paul's words echo through time: "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
